7 hours without electricity

This is my third post today, & my warnet bill shows Rp 10.500 with total time 02:51:23. Do you know what I’ve been doing? Blogwalking & checking Friendster account. Amazing huh…

I’m totally hopeless today. There’s a “scheduled power down for maintenance” by the one and only Perusahaan Listrik Negara a.k.a PLN in my neighborhood. And do you know how long “scheduled power down for maintenance” is? SEVEN HOURS! Lights went off at 9 this morning & will return on at 4 this afternoon. This country is UNBELIEVABLE! Seven hours without electricity??????

That makes me wonder, why can’t modern people live without electricity? I mean, there are times that humans didn’t live with electricity and they certainly could live, right? One day, there was a same “scheduled power down for maintenance” in my campus area and guess what, no lectures that day. Why did we blame electricity for not having lectures? I mean, come on, if there were no over head projectors, lecturers could use the whiteboard instead. Or speak. Give the students speech and make them take notes. I think humans don’t need electricity to speak.

My point is, there are still many things we can do without electricity. We can read books, cook, take a nap, gardening, sport, have sex… but why do we feel like we can do nothing when electricity’s out?

Yet, here I am, at a warnet. Still need electricity to live my life. Shame on me, I know.
